The College Hotel is sure to please
with its dynamic blending of tradition with contemporary styling
and hospitality. Architectural/design firm, FG Stijl Amsterdam, transformed
this circa 1895 school building into a 40-room delight. As a classified
historical listed building, regulations dictated retaining the original
facade while they lovingly restored and buffed a proud exterior.
In public spaces, exposed, aged-red brick walls and black, period
millwork invoke the past while stylish lighting and furnishings generate
hip tranquility. Rooms feature lofty ceilings, painted woodwork,
exposed wood beams, lush, earth-toned carpeting and upholstery, highly-polished
black cabinetry and exotic lighting. These elements create a solid,
yet lively mood. Custom bathroom fixtures of lustrous black, gleaming
chrome and elegant marble dazzle the senses. Luxurious cascade showerheads
pamper guests in many rooms. The chic bar already attracts Amsterdam’s
bright and beautiful. Stylish and inviting, with stunning reflective
surfaces, whimsical floral arrangements, and cozy fireplaces it buzzes
with excitement. The College Hotel is owned by Amsterdam’s
Hotel Management School (ROC) to give advanced students
experience meeting the demands of luxury hospitality. The
Stein Group manages the property and directs student staffers.
This Barcelona-based firm boasts the spectacular Gran Hotel La
Florida overlooking Barcelona, Brownes on Dublin’s St. Stephen’s
Green and the dreamy Gran Hotel Son Net on Mallorca among their
noteworthy collection. Training young people, while serving an
upscale clientele, will be a challenge but from our initial experience
we expect resounding success. The Museum Quarter, fashionable shopping
and numerous clubs are nearby. Visit www.thecollegehotel.com or
